past victories leave prosecutor shy
Bangor Blockade Not Charged

Washington State - 17 January: Five activists cited for blocking the entrance to Bangor Trident submarine base on Martin Luther King day appeared at the county court house January 17 as ordered by the Sheriff's department, expecting to be arraigned. Glen Milner and Shirley Morrison of Seattle, Joy Goldstein of Vashon Island, Brian Watson and Jackie Hudson of Bremerton were surprised to find charges had not been filed, no explanation given.

A supportive newspaper reporter got word to them that the prosecutor said due to the last acquittals by juries in the county for similar offenses - it would be "poor use of county funds to prosecute this group on criminal charges".

Jackie Hudson writes, "We rejoice in the opportunity to speak our message against Trident publicly and not be prosecuted."
